YAY! Breeding your zoo animals is here!
Now you can breed adorable baby animals in rare and unique colors.
How to get started:
First you will need a nursery.
Go to the store and buy the Nursery starter building- it's free!
You can only have one Nursery per park. If you have multiple parks and want to breed animals in them, you'll need a nursery for each park.
Once you have the starter building, you need to finish building it with construction materials. Click on the building to start collecting the materials.
You can get the materials as free gifts from your friends, or you can buy them for 5 Facebook Credits each.
Click the "Wish" button to ask your friends to send you that material.
The materials won't all be in the free gifts every day. They will rotate so only a few gifts are available each day. The Nursery will keep track of what materials you have collected and what you still need.
Once you have completed building the Nursery, then you can start breeding! A first level nursery can hold up to 3 baby animals. You can upgrade the nursery to hold more babies.
You will need an adult male and an adult female of the same species in order to breed.
There are two ways to initiate breeding.
1. Click on an adult animal, and click on the heart icon on it's information menu.
OR
2. Click on the Nursery and then click the pink "Breed" button
This will show you a list of all the animals you have in that park. Adult animals of some species will have a "Select" button.
Other animals may show a "Can't Breed" sign or a "Too young" sign.
If an animal has already bred that day, he will show a "Too Soon" sign.
Animals can be bred once per day.
Right now, only limited species can breed. We will add more species later.
Animals that can currently breed:
Tigers (including white tigers, trendy tigers and winged tigers)
Lions (including white lions and dark lions)
Zebras (including pink zebras)
Cheetahs (including giant pink cheetahs)
Bald Eagles
Porcupines
Foxes (including 9-tailed foxes)
Giraffes
Owls
Penguins (including Macaroni Penguins and Proper Penguins)
Choose your animal to start breeding. I've chosen a male Pink Cheetah.
The next screen will show you all the potential mates for this animal.
All my adult female Cheetahs are shown here:
Choose the mate for your animal by clicking the Select button.
Now your two animals are whisked away to a secluded romantic moonlit spot!
At this stage you have two breeding options.
1. Click the Red Heart icon to breed for 100 coins.
Breeding for coins is not guaranteed to be successful. Just like real life, you won't always get a baby, but it's low risk and you can always try again tomorrow.
2. The second option is to breed with Love Potion. (Click the Pink Heart icon) Love Potion costs 30 Facebook credits, and it's guaranteed to produce a baby for this breeding. Also, the odds of getting a rare-colored baby are increased. (it's also possible to get a rare-colored baby through coin breeding, but the odds are lower)
If your breeding is successful you will see a baby basket appear!
If the breeding fails, no basket will appear.
You can try also again with Love Potion right after a failed coin breeding attempt.
If you want to try again with coins, you have to wait until the next day, or try a different pair of animals.
So now you have your baby basket, congratulations! You need to click on the basket and that will move it to your Nursery.
The baby basket is hungry and needs to be fed so it will grow.
Click on the yellow baby bottle to feed the baby.
Each species has a different feeding interval for the babies, and a different growing time until the basket is born. This basket will be born in 4 days, if it is well fed.
The baby will only grow when it has been fed, so if you miss some feedings, the baby will take longer to grow.
If you don't want to wait to see the baby, you can make him be born right away with Instant-Grow. Click on the red baby bottle to buy Instant Grow for 20 Facebook credits.
Note:
Instant-grow for baby baskets will make the basket be born and grow to a juvenile. It won't grow the basket all the way to adulthood.
Awww it's a baby pink cheetah!
When your baby animal is born and ready to join the zoo, he will have a "Release" sign on him.
Click the Release button to place the animal in your zoo, and free up his Nursery spot for another baby!
If you have animals too young to breed, and you don't want to wait for them to grow up naturally, you can also Insta-grow them into adults for 20 Facebook credits. This is a separate process from insta-grow for baby baskets.
Click on a juvenile animal and in his information menu you'll see a lightning bolt icon.
Click on that lightning bolt and you can buy Instant-Grow for this animal.
Q: Do I need a nursery for each of my parks?
A: A Nursery will only cover breeding for animals in that park, so if you want to breed animals in multiple parks, you do need a nursery in the other parks , OR you can move the animals you wish to breed into the park which has the nursery.
The Nursery itself cannot be moved from park to park, but the animals can.
Q: How many babies can I breed?
A: Your breeding limits will be determined by the size of your nursery.
The first level nursery holds 3 babies at a time. There are 5 levels of nurseries and each one holds more babies. (Upgrading Nursery is being built, and will be added soon)
Different species have different growth times, so some babies may occupy a nursery spot for longer than others, this will also affect how often you can breed.
If your nursery is full and there is no room for another baby, it will not let you breed animals that day.
Q: How often can my animals breed?
A: You can attempt one breeding per day per animal. However if you attempt a coin breeding and it fails, you can try again right away with the same animals if you breed with Love Potion.
Q: My breeding didn't work, I got a broken heart and my animals look sad.
A: Coin breeding is not always successful. It's like a gamble- so if you don't want any risk you can buy one at the store, and you will get a animal for sure. But breeding a baby can also have a chance to produce rare colors of animals not available at the store.
If you don't succeed, keep trying!
Q: Can I breed a regular lion with a white lion?
A: Yes. They are considered the same species, so regular lions can breed with white and dark lions.
(note: Leo the astrology lion cannot breed with lions)
Regular tigers can breed with white tigers, winged tigers, rainbow tigers, and trendy tigers.
Bald Eagles can breed with Patriotic Eagles.
etc.
Q: Can animals breed with relatives?
A: Yes
Q: What colors of animals will I get?
A: There are several rare colors of each animal type (not available in the store). When breeding for coins you have a chance to get one of the rare colors, or the baby could also look like one of the parents.
When breeding with Love Potion, you have an increased chance to get a rare color baby.
