Improving Game Performance

Greetings islander!

In this guide, we'll show you how to increase the amount of memory that Happy Island has access to. This is a handy way to improve game performance and is also known to fix the odd bug! Smile

OPTIONAL READING - Why all the fuzz about Flash and memory?
Computers need memory to run programs. You're able to read this because your computer has allocated memory to your web browser. If there's too little memory to go about, any program will start stuttering because your computer need to shuffle around a lot of information to get things done. Your system usually avoids that by giving memory thirsty programs more memory.

Happy Island is in a different situation though because it's a program run within another program; Flash. As a consequence, if you want Happy Island to get a bigger piece of the cake, you'll have to do it manually.

Below, you'll find a step-by-step guide on how to increase the amount of memory Happy Island can access from the standard 100kb (a very small amount) to 10mb (a rather generous amount but still an insignificant part of any modern hard drive).

PREPARATION - Update Flash

Before we embark, you'd want to make sure you're running a new version of the Flash player. You can see which version you're currently running over here. I'm running one of the new versions and it looks like this:

If your version of Flash is lower than 10, download the newest Flash player over here. Press Agree and Install and follow the instructions.

THE ESSENTIALS - More juice!

Step 1
- Go to Adobe's Flash Player Help - Website Storage Settings panel
- Locate and click on cdnisland.crowdstar.com in the list. Click Delete (yep!).

Step 2
- Confirm the deletion.

Step 3
- If you're running Happy Island, close and re-open it or simply press F5 to reload the application.

Step 4
- Revisit the Website Storage Settings panel and select cdnisland.crowdstar.com again.

Step 4
- Adjust the slider until it reaches 10mb. We don't recommend setting it to 'Unlimited'.

Step 5

- Additionally Try switching to low quality in the quality toggle. That's the "eye" icon in the game. Also make sure you don't have any other flash  apps open at the same time, such as other Facebook games, youtube videos, etc.

- Launch Happy Island and enjoy enjoy the game at its fullest!

Good luck to you and keep smiling! Very Happy
